Oswald Field
Home of Hesston Baseball
Oswald Field is named in honor of C. Evan Oswald, the founding father of Hesston College Intercollegiate Athletics. A 1948 Hesston College graduate, Oswald returned to Hesston in 1951 to teach physical education and serve as athletic director. His pioneering leadership helped make competitive athletics an acceptable avocation in the Mennonite Church. In his 20 years at the helm of Hesston College's physical education department, Oswald and his colleagues started programs in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, and track. Oswald coached tennis (2 years), golf (2 years), basketball (5 years), and baseball (13 years).
