Dodge City, KS -
The Larks were finally able to open up their season after a few hiccups to open the new year due to weather and to Covid Protocols. They were able to defeat Dodge City CC last night in game one by a score of 9-4, and they were defeated in game two by a score of 3-1. The Larks now hold an overall record of 1-1 on the season, and will look to add two wins tomorrow as they host Bethel College JV.
Game 1 Recap
In game one. the Larks found themselves trailing 2-0 going into the fourth inning, they were able to score 9 runs in the top of the fourth inning. They saw
Kimberlin Hopson hit a 2-run home run, which is the first in her Larks career.
Teri Stanton got the start in the circle for the Larks as she recorded her first career win, and went 6 2/3 innings while allowing 3 earned runs and recorded 5 strikeouts.
Game 2 Recap
In game two, the Larks were trailing 2-0 heading into the fifth inning. They were able to add a run on an error by the Dodge City third basemen, as they Larks were able to cut into the lead as they trailed 2-1. They would ultimately fall by a score of 3-1, this loss moved their record to 1-1 on the season.
Natalie Fischer came into pitch in relief in this game and she went 2 innings while only allowing one run and striking out 2 hitters.
The Larks will play host to Bethel College JV tomorrow at Bess Mullet Field for their season opener beginning at 4:00 PM.
