Hesston, KS -  The Hesston College Larks men's soccer team won their home opener 2-1 over the Ottawa Braves JV on Friday evening. The teams battled sweltering heat in a contest that showed what each defense was made of. Hesston was able to get on the board in the 64th minute. Sophomore Raul Reyes Jr. sent a corner kick in front of the goal and Sophomore Woodley Simon put it in for the first goal of the season. Later in the 86th minute the Braves defense experienced deja vu with a corner from Raul Reyes Jr., this time put in the back of the net by Sophomore Gen Takahashi. The Larks defense did give up one goal but Freshman Goalie Luis Jimenez was able to save six on the night. The Larks will be back in action on Thursday night where they will match up with Ecclesia College at 8pm in Hesston, KS: Sieber Field.
