Kansas City, Kan-  The Hesston College Softball Team faced the KJCCC fifth placed Kansas City Kansas Community College on Thursday afternoon. 

 

Game 1: The Larks changed up the pitching strategy in this matchup starting freshman Sydney Jackson in game one. Sydney was able to go the distance but was charged with loss as the Blue Devil bats were able to compile 12 runs on 11 hits to win 12-3 in five innings. Sophomores Madison Gonzales and Lauren Payne had two hits each. Freshman Mimi Castillo in the fifth hit a 2-run single for her 26th and 27th RBI's of the season. KCKCC was able to capitalize on four Hesston defensive errors and steal four bases. 

 

Four Blue Devils had multiple hits to complement A. Droge started on the mound and pitched 4.1 innings while striking out six batters. 

 

Game 2: In the second matchup of the day Hesston had bases loaded in the first inning and scored one on a walk to go up 1-0. KCKCC proceeded to put together 12 runs on 15 hits. The Blue Devils had six batters with multiple hits led by K. Vandervoo three. For the Larks the lineup combined for six base runners, four by way of singles. Emma Killingsworth was charged with the loss, pitching 3.2 innings giving up 12 runs on 15 hits. 

 

Hesston is now 1-7 in conference and will face the 1-7 Coffeyville Ravens on Saturday in Hesston, KS.
