ATLANTA, Ga. – The Hesston College powerlifting team brought home several pieces of hardware from Powerlifting America University Nationals from April 3-6.
In its first season of competition, Hesston won the men's equipped team national championship. Corbyn Oden and Joshua Gaitan both competed equipped for the Larks and posted totals of 740kg and 630kg respectively. Oden was also voted the most outstanding equipped lifter of the entire meet.
Brock Swedlund finished 25th in the 74kg raw weight class with a 180kg squat, 105kg bench and 200kg deadlift for a total of 485 kg.
Chase Sexton and Connor Bear competed in the 105kg raw weight class finishing 13th and 17th respectively. Sexton posted a 642.5kg total while Bear racked up a total of 602.5kg.
Rylee Weishaupt earned a fourth-place finish in the women's 57kg raw weight class to achieve all-American status with a 295kg total. Aiko Keanaaina placed 12th in the women's 84+ kg weight class with a total of 325kg.
