BELLEVUE, Neb. — The Hesston College men's soccer team suffered its second loss of the season Friday, falling 5-0 to Bellevue University in the Larks' Continental Athletic Conference opener. Hesston moved to 9-2-1 overall and 0-1 in CAC play.

Bellevue jumped in front early, scoring three times in the opening 22 minutes. Adam Sherwood opened the scoring in the ninth minute off an assist from Edwin Cisneros before Juan Lagares doubled the advantage less than three minutes later. Sherwood struck again in the 22nd minute to send Bellevue into halftime with a 3-0 lead. 

The Larks were held without a shot in the opening half but generated more opportunities after the break. Santiago Llanos recorded Hesston's first attempt in the 51st minute, while Saul Pineda put a shot on goal in the 66th. 

Bellevue extended the lead in the 70th minute when Sherwood completed his hat trick off an assist from Samuel Puth. Sergio Mijangos added the Bruins' final goal in the 82nd minute to make it 5-0. 

Hesston finished with three shots, two on goal, compared to Bellevue's 15 shots and six on target. Alexander Radu and Pineda each put a shot on goal, while Llanos recorded the Larks' other attempt. Bellevue also held a 1-0 advantage in corner kicks. 

Harry Morris started in goal and made one save in nearly 76 minutes of action before Luis Jimenez finished the match.
