HESSTON, Kan. — The Hesston College men's soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 2-1 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State University on Saturday night.

Neither team found the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes. Oklahoma Panhandle State generated five first-half shots, but Hesston goalkeeper Harry Morris made two saves to keep the Aggies off the board. Alexander Radu and Mauricio Ramirez each recorded a shot for the Larks as the teams entered halftime scoreless.

Hesston broke through shortly after halftime. Radu converted a penalty kick in the 51st minute to give the Larks a 1-0 advantage. It was his second goal of the season after scoring in Hesston's season-opening win over Bethel.

The lead lasted just over five minutes. Oklahoma Panhandle State's Miguel Castejon scored off an assist from Melki Rivera in the 56th minute to even the match at 1-1.

Radu answered quickly. In the 60th minute, he found the back of the net for the second time in the match, putting Hesston back in front 2-1. The goal gave Radu three goals through the Larks' first two games of the season.

Oklahoma Panhandle State increased the pressure over the final 30 minutes. The Aggies nearly tied the match in the 77th minute when Til Vaupel hit the post. They continued to create opportunities late, but Morris made saves in the 88th and 89th minutes to preserve the lead.

Hesston had an opportunity to add an insurance goal in the 89th minute when Jaiden Trevelyan put a shot on target, but Oklahoma Panhandle State goalkeeper Mateja Stefanovic made the save. The Larks then held off one final Aggie attempt in the closing seconds to secure the 2-1 victory.

Oklahoma Panhandle State finished with a 17-7 advantage in shots, including five shots on goal to Hesston's three. Morris finished with four saves in the victory, while Radu accounted for both Hesston goals on four shots.

The win moves the Larks to 2-0 to begin the 2026 season. Hesston will return home Saturday, Aug. 29 to face Bethany College at 7:30 p.m.
