Matt Hiebert

Matt Hiebert began his tenure as the head men’s basketball coach at Hesston College in 2020. With Hiebert at the helm, the Larks have seen consistent improvement every season, improving from seven wins in 2021 to 12 wins in 2022-23.

A native of Peabody, Kan., Matt attended Hesston College and played basketball from 2012-14 before completing his education at Kansas State University. After graduating from KSU, Hiebert returned to Hesston as an assistant coach for the men’s team in 2017 and served in that position until 2020 when he took over as the head coach.

Under Hiebert’s tenure, the Larks have accumulated numerous conference Player of the Week accolades, one first team all-conference pick, and one Lark Male Athlete of the Year. In 2023, the Larks ranked in the top ten nationally in defensive three-point shooting percentage as well as a top ten finish in assists.

Hiebert also helped set another significant standard for the team, producing outstanding academic teams in 2021-22 and 2022-23.

Matt lives in Hesston with his wife, Katelyn, and their son, Hayes.
