Hesston Sweeps Dig Pink Triangular

The Larks held their Dig Pink Triangular this weekend as they faced off with Labette CC and Pratt CC.  They were able to sweep the day winning against both Labette CC 3-1 and Pratt CC 3-0.  These wins bring the Larks overall season record to (12-15, 0-7) with just four games left on the season.  The Larks will now prepare for their conference match on Wednesday, October 23 at 6:30 pm against Neosho County Community College.



Hesston vs. Labette CC Notes

Hesston defeated Labette CC by a final score of 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 25-11, 25-17) in the first match of the day for the Larks.  Hesston began the match on fire as they got up early on Labette, but the Cardinals fought back towards the end of the set.  Ultimately the Larks were able to pull away in the end and secure a win in the first set to go up 1-0.  The Cardinals were able to take advantage of mistakes made by the Larks as they took set two to tie it up 1-1.  In the next two sets, the Cardinals stood no chance against the Larks, as Hesston dominated the sets with Maddy Ward recording most of her kills (13) in the final two sets.  The Larks were able to beat the Cardinals convincingly in the final two sets to secure the match victory.  MacKenzie Mordecai led the way for the Larks as she recorded 26 assists.

Hesston vs. Pratt CC Notes

Hesston swept Pratt CC by a final score of 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-19) to secure a sweep on the day for the Larks.  The Beavers couldn't get anything going in any set against the Larks as they were too much to handle.  MacKenzie Mordecai led the way for the Larks as she recorded 12 kills, she was all over the court and showed herself as a true leader in the match.  Marta Jantzi dished out the most assists for the match as she recorded 16 to lead the way for the Larks.  The Larks took care of business as it was an emotional day playing in the Dig Pink Day for all those who have dealt with the awful cancer disease. Leslie Gerber a Hesston Volleyball Alum who is currently battling breast cancer was recognized and prayed over during the 2nd and 3rd sets of this match.
