Bontrager Leads Larks to First Victory of the Season

The Larks were able to secure their first win of the season this past week after they defeated Southwestern Christian University JV by a score of 72-58.  This win was the Larks first regular season victory since January 2019 snapping a 23 game losing streak.  


Hesston vs. SCU Notes

The Larks faced off with the Eagles of Southwestern Christian on Tuesday, November 19 were they secured the 72-58 victory.  This win brought their record to 1-10 on the season and snapped their 10 game losing streak to open the season.  Sydney Bontrager (Fr. Milford, Neb.) led the way for the Larks are she had a career night in points with 30!  She also was a monster on the boards as she grabbed 13 rebounds on the night.  Destiny Kessay (Fr. McNary, Ari.) also had a nice game as she added 12 points and dished out 4 assists.

Hesston vs. Clarendon College Notes

Hesston faced off with Clarendon College on Wednesday, November 20 were they fell by a score of 60-45 dropping their record to 1-11 on the season.  The Larks showed a lot of fight against a Clarendon team that was undefeated as they trailed by only 6 points at the end of the half.  Sydney Bontrager led the way for the Larks as she had 9 points and grabbed 13 rebounds on the night.

Hesston vs. Western Oklahoma Notes

The Larks traveled down to Altus, Oklahoma on Saturday, November 23 where they faced off with Western Oklahoma College and ended up falling 94-37, dropping their record to 1-12 on the season.  Western Oklahoma came out of the locker room to begin the game shooting lights out, and it ended up being to much for the Larks to handle.  Jordyn Brakes (Fr. Frisco, Texas) led the way for the Larks in scoring as she had 13 points, she also secured 5 rebounds on the night.

What's Next

The Larks will have nine days off as they will take some time to rest up and get ready for their next game on Monday, December 2 at 6:00 PM against Colby CC in Colby, Kansas.
