Baker & Hill Lead Larks to Four Game Win Streak

Hesston, KS -

The Larks have been on fire over the past week and a half as they were able to secure four straight wins!  The Larks were able to get back to .500 on the season and go above it as they are now 7-5 on the season.  Hesston will take a few days off before they look to extend their streak into winter break.


Hesston vs. Southwestern JV Game Notes

The Larks faced off with the Moundbuilders of Southwestern College on November 21 and secured a victory by a score of 85-64, moving their record to 4-5 on the season.  Jacob Baker (So. Wichita, KS) had an outstanding shooting night as he led the game in scoring with 34 points and was 10-18 from three point range.  Derrick Magiya (So. Plano, Texas) recorded a double-double as he had 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Hesston shot the ball well as a team as they made almost 48% of their shots from the field.

Hesston vs. Ottawa JV Gold Notes

Hesston faced off with the Braves of Ottawa University on November 23 where they would win by a score of  75-54 to make their record 5-5 on the season and back to .500 overall.  Jacob Baker continued his hot shooting performance as he led the Larks in scoring with 21 points on 7-14 shooting from the field.  Marcus Hill (Fr. Houston, Texas) had a great night as he was rebound shy of a double-double with 12 points and 9 rebounds.  Hesston had a great night defensively as they recorded 4 blocks and 5 steals!

Hesston vs. McPherson JV Notes

The Larks faced off with the Bulldogs of McPherson College on November 25 where they would extend their win streak to three games as they won by a score of 63-62 improving their record to 6-5 on the season.  Marcus Hill had another great performance as he secured a huge double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds! Derrick Magiya would also secure a huge double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.  Jacob Baker secured the Larks victory when he sank two huge free throws at the end of the game to give the Larks their 1 point victory over the Bulldogs.  All five Hesston starters accounted for all 63 points on the night.

Hesston vs. Ottawa JV Black Notes

Hesston improved their win streak to four games on November 30 as they knocked off Ottawa JV Black by a score of 78-66 bringing their record to 7-5 on the season.  Marcus Hill put up another monster game for the Larks as he had 24 points and 12 rebounds, securing his second consecutive double-double.  Jacob Baker also had a great night shooting as he had 21 points on 8-16 shooting from the field, he also shot 5-10 from three point range.  Reese Nebel (So. Hesston, KS) had a great night defensively as he recorded 3 steals!

What's Next

The Larks will now prepare for a stretch of three home games to close out the first half of the season on December 3 at 7:30 PM versus Bethel College JV inside Yost Center.
