Volleyball Falls to Back-to-Back National Champions

The Larks were unable to pull of the upset tonight against Coffeyville Community College, falling in straight sets 3-0 (12-25, 21-25, 23-25).  This loss brings the Larks overall record to (5-7, 0-1) on the season.

The Larks were up against a tough opponent as they faced the back-to-back national champions.  Despite Coffeyville being favorite in this match the Larks were unfazed giving the Red Ravens a tough match.  In set 1 the Larks started off slow, but were able to gain some energy and fought back in the middle of the set.  Coffeyville was just too much to handle and they ended up taking the first set (12-25).  Set 2 was a back and forth affaire with with Coffeyville taking control at the end, winning the set 21-25.  The Larks carried the momentum they gained from set 2 into set 3. After a back and forth beginning of the set, Hesston went on a run to take the lead by a score of 14-10.  Coffeyville followed with a run of their own to take the lead back and eventually the match, with the final score ending up  23-25.

The Larks will turn their attention to their next matches, which take place on Friday, September 13th at 5:00 & 7:00 pm in the Cloud County Triangular.  The Larks are set to take on Bethany College JV (5 pm) and Cloud County Community College (7 pm), both matches will be non-conference matches for the Larks.
