Box Score Hesston, KS -
The Larks took the pitch against a tough non-conference opponent in McPherson College reserves and came out on top 4-2. This win brings Hesston's overall record to (4-3, 0-2) on the season.  The Larks started out the game slow by allowing the Bulldogs to score the first goal in the 11th minute of the first half. After the goal the Larks defense stiffened and the offense become more aggressive as the Larks controlled the rest of the half. The Larks carried that fire into the second half scoring their first goal of the match, when
Baldo Moreno (Fr. Malaga, Spain) slipped one past the keeper in the 54th minute to bring the score to 1-1. This goal increased the energy for the Larks creating another opportunity about 14 seconds later which lead to their second goal byÂ
Itallo da Silva Dias (Fr. Matias Barbosa, Brazil) to put Hesston up 2-1. The Larks wasted no time in creating another excellent opportunity as they moved the ball downfield and added another goal in the 62nd minute when
Trey Greening (So. Wichita, Kansas) volleyed one into the net to put the Larks up 3-1. McPherson did not go away quietly though answering back in the 62 minute with a goal of their own. The Larks were not done though as they added their fourth and final goal in 68th minute when
Itallo da Silva Dias added his second goal of the match to put the game out of reach securing the 4-2 win. After the game Head Coach Matt Gerlach had this to say about the win, ""It was good to see our team respond to some adversity. We have been working hard on our team mentality, overcoming, pushing through, staying focused and I feel they responded with goals and a desire that earned a victory. We need to carry that through to the heart of conference play over the next few week". The Larks will be back in action on Wednesday, September 18th at 7:30 pm, as they take on Garden City CC at Sieber Field.
