The Larks traveled to Pratt Community College last night for their doubleheader with the Beavers, and they came back to Hesston with two huge victories as they won (9-1) & (8-4). These two wins brings their record back to .500 overall as they are 4-4 on the season.Â
Game 1 Notes
In Game 1 the Larks dominated in all aspects of the game as they defeated the Beavers 9-1. In the first inning the Larks got started early as
Alexis Silvey (Fr. Colorado Springs, Colo.) singled home a run, then
Bailey Hollinger (Lyon, Kan.) followed up with a single of her own to put the Larks up 2-0. Hesston would add two more runs in the third inning when
Amy Bretado (So. Whittier, Cali.) hit her first home run of the season to make the score 4-0. In the fifth the Larks would push their lead to 5-0 when
Anyssa Aguilar (So. Hacienda Heights, Cali.) stole home! In the seventh,
Marissa Harrison (Fr. Mountain Park, Okla.) hit her second home run of the season to bring the score to 6-0. The Larks weren't done in the seventh as they added two more runs to go up 9-0. The Beavers were unable to come back after adding a run in the bottom half of the seventh,as the Larks took the game 9-1.Â
Chelsea Smith (So. Tacoma, Wash.) got the start in the circle for the Larks and she DOMINATED as she had 16 strikeouts! Â
Game 2 Notes
Game 2 started just like Game 1 did as
Alexis Silvey singled home a run to put the Larks up 1-0 in the first.Â
Amy Bretado added a single in the first as well to bring the score to 2-0. In the second, the Larks drew back-to-back bases loaded walks to make the score 4-0, then
Amy Bretado drove in three runs with a huge single to make the score 7-0. In the third,
Alexis Silvey drove in her second run of the game with a single to bring the score to 8-0. The Beavers would go on to add four runs over the next four innings, but the Larks will still take the game 8-4.Â
Amy Bretado got in done in the circle as well as at the plate as she recorded 5 strikeouts in 5 innings of work.Â
Chelsea Smith finished off the final two innings were she would give up one hit on 4 strikeouts.Â
What's Next?
The Larks will host Hutchinson Community College in a doubleheader at the new Bess Mullet Field this afternoon beginning at 4:00 PM. Â
