The Cardinals of Trinity Valley Community College are located in Athens, Texas and are a NJCAA Region XIV school. Trinity Valley will be 9 games into their season when they face off with the Larks. The Cardinals are coached by James Rodriguez who is in his 1st season as head coach. Â
Hesston Notes
The Larks will begin their 2020 season with some new faces on the field and a new face as head coach. Coach
Christie Bell had this to say about the upcoming season, "We are really looking forward to be able to go out and compete each day in a tough conference. The girls are working very hard this year and the improvement they have shown has been tremendous. We're really excited to just be able to get back to playing and go out and compete daily and hopefully compete for the Conference Championship, but we're taking it day by day, game by game and not get ahead of ourselves."Â Be sure to come out and cheer on your Larks to another great season!
Player to Watch
Returners:Â
Jessie Miranda: returns to SS this season and in the leadoff role where she was very successful last year with 48 stolen bases. Look for her to do the same thing this year with putting the ball in play and using her speed. Also, a 2nd Team NFCA All-Region Selection. Jessie's speed is game changing and is a huge benefit for the Larks.
Amy Bretado: Amy will see time in the DP spot, along with time in the circle. Amy is coming off of Hesston's first softball 1st Team NJCAA All-American where she produced 19 homeruns and 64 RBIs.Â
Chelsea Smith: Chelsea returns after coming off of a 20-5 record last year with a 2.06 ERA. We're looking for her to do even better than she produced last year. She was a 2nd Team NFCA All-Region.
Freshman:
Marissa Harrison: Marissa will be the Larks main catcher this year, so look for her to really produce with the pitching staff and be an asset in the lineup hitting as well.
Alexis Silvey: Look for Lexie to see time in the outfield and in the lineup with her ability to get on base and move runners with her speed.
