Last night the Larks opened their season against Tabor College JV (9-2) and fell by a score of 50-36. Hesston moves to 0-1 on the season and will look to get their first win in their next match-up.
Tabor College JV (9-2) began the game scoring the first 4 points, until
Kirah Stepps (Fr. Wichita, Kansas) scored the Larks first basket of the season and the first of her collegiate career. They trailed 15-4 with one minute left in the first quarter, until
Star Her Many Horses (Fr. Lawrence, Kansas) scored her second basket of the game. In the second quarter the Larks found themselves down 25-10 with 5:27 left in the half, they then went on a run to bring the score to 29-21 with 5:36 left in the third quarter after a big three pointer by
Sadie Svymbersky (Fr. Derby, Kansas). The Larks were unable to come back as they ultimately fell 50-36.
Destiny Kessay (So. McNary, Arizona) led the team in scoring with 9 points on 4-12 shooting from the field.
Kirah Stepps added 7 points on 3-9 shooting in her Larks debut.
Sydney Bontrager (So. Milford, Nebraska) continue to be dominant on the glass as she grabbed a game-high 19 rebounds to go along with 6 points.
