Flowers Leads Larks to Victory Over Bethel JV

The Larks took care of business this afternoon versus Bethel College JV as they defeated the Threshers 87-75.  With this win the Larks now hold a 5-3 record as they have one last non-conference game on Tuesday night before they begin conference play.  


Hesston and Bethel both started the game off slow as neither team was able to put the ball in the basket much.  With 13:56 left in the first half, the Larks took their first lead of the game (6-4) when Juwuan Clifton knocked down a three pointer that was assisted by Elijah Smith.  Both teams would trade baskets over the next few minutes until the Larks were able to string together to huge three's by Jerome Jackson and Juwuan Clifton as the Larks extended their lead to 20-17.  The Larks would go into halftime leading 31-26 over the Threshers.  

In the second half, the Larks began to take over the game as Juwuan Clifton and Jerome Jackson continued to hit big time shots for the Larks as they led 46-34 with 15:15 left in the game.  With 14:51 left in the game, Langston Flowers crossed over the defender and swished home a step back jumper that gave the Larks a 14 point advantage as they led 48-34.  Hesston would extend their lead to 15 points with 11:54 left in the game as Langston Flowers was fouled and went to the line, where he we sink all three of his free throws.  Bethel would go on to cut the Larks lead down to 2 points (63-61) after draining a few three pointers.  The Larks were able to stopped Bethel from going on a further run as Langston Flowers and Elijah Smith took over for the remaining of the game.  Hesston would go on to close out the game and take the 12 point victory as the score finished 87-75.  

Flowers led all scorers as he finished with 26 points coming off the bench, and went perfect from the free throw line as knocked down all 15 of his free throws.  Smith recorded his fourth double-double of the season as he had 14 points and 15 rebounds.  Jerome Jackson finished with a career high as he had 15 points and shot 3-4 from three point range.  

Hesston will be back in action on Tuesday night inside Yost Center at 7:30 PM as they host On-Point Academy in their final non-conference game of the season.
