The Larks traveled down to Oklahoma to face off with the #3 team in the nation, NOC-Tonkawa where they would go on to take one of two games from them.  

Hesston would drop the first game of the season to the Mavericks by a score of 8-2.  Easton Unruh (Rs. Fr. El Dorado, Kan.) got the nod on the mound for the Larks.  Halen David (Rs. Fr. Arkansas City, Kan.) got the Larks on the board with a 2-run shot over the left field fence, as the Larks trailed 5-2.  Brayden Ketley (Rs. Fr. Wichita, Kan.) went four innings in relief, as he struck out four and allowing two earned runs.  The Larks would go on to start the season 0-1 after falling to the Mavericks.  


The Larks came out for revenge in game two, Devin Catlin (Fr. Dexter, Kan.) got the start on the mound.  The freshman wowed in his Larks debut as he went four innings, gave up two hits and one earned run.  Kansuke Okada (Rs. Fr. Osaka, Japan) would provide the big spark in Hesston's offense in game two as he went 3 for 5 with a 3-run home run and a 2-run double.  Eli Prine (Fr. Holton, Kan.) would come in and shut the door on the Mavericks as he would get his first save in a Larks uniform.  Prine went one inning and gave up one hit, no earned runs and had two strikeouts.  The Larks would go on to beat the Mavericks 10-9, bringing their record to 1-1 on the season.  This win marked the first win versus a ranked opponent under head coach Kyle Olson, and was also Kyle's first win as the Larks head coach.  


The Larks will be back in action tomorrow as they travel to Iola, Kansas to face off with Allen County in a DH beginning at 1:00 PM.
