Baseball Splits with (RV) NOC-Enid

Hesston, KS -

The Larks hosted (RV) NOC-Enid yesterday afternoon, and were able to come away with a series split as they won game one 5-1 and lost game two 11-6.  They remain one game over .500 on the season as they hold an 18-17 record.  Hesston will host McPherson College JV tomorrow evening for a DH beginning at 5:00 PM.

GAME 1

The Larks got on the board in the third inning after Dawson Winter hit a double to the left-center gap scoring two runs, as they took a 2-1 lead.  Jack Brinkley stepped up to the plate next and switched spots with Dawson as he crushed a double, and the Larks took a 3-1 lead.  In the fifth inning, the Larks added another run after Jack Brinkley brought home on a single, as their lead was extended to 4-1.  In the bottom of the sixth, Hesston would add another run as Halen David scored.  Kainoa Mane got the start for the Larks on the mound and pitched lights out as he went a complete game and allowed just one run while striking out five hitters and getting his first win of his career in a Larks uniform.

GAME 2

Both teams traded blows in the first two innings as the Larks led 5-4.  Eli Prine became the all-time single season RBI leader in Hesston Baseball history (46 RBI) in the first inning when he singled home two runs.  The Larks weren't able to get their bats going much more, until the bottom of the seventh when Eli Prine singled home another run.  The Larks would fall 11-6, but saw a big performance from Eli as he went 2-4 with 3 RBI.  Cayden Diccion would record the loss for the Larks as he went two innings and gave up six runs, he moves to 2-2 on the season.

Hesston will host McPherson JV tomorrow beginning at 5 PM for a DH at Oswald Field.  The Larks will look to sweep the season series versus McPherson after taking both games last week versus the Bulldogs.
