Offense Shows Promise On Wind Chill Shortened Night

Score: Hesston College 7 | Central Christian College 9 - (4 innings)

Location: 6:00 p.m. | Hesston, Kan.

 

Hesston, KS - The Hesston Larks dropped the second game of their home opener double header  vs. Central Christian College. Hesston was able to stay in it until the end, but Central Christian pulled away late in a 9-7 victory. Central Christian fired up the offense in the first inning, when Holt doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. Central Christian scored three runs in the fourth inning. Hall, Powers, and Tegtmeier each had RBIs in the big inning.

 

Teri Stanton was on the rubber for Hesston. The righthander gave up seven runs on four hits over three innings, striking out five.

 

The Tigers hit two home runs in the game. Powers and Adams both in the 2nd inning.

 

Hesston College Larks were able to tally eight hits in the game. Mariah Gilmartin and Candace Durney each had multiple hits for the Larks. 

 

The game was shortened due to the wind chill of 22 degrees after the 4th inning. 


Turning Point

Two doubles and a single in the 4th inning proved to be the icing on the cake for the Tigers to pull out the victory. 

 

Lark Leader

Mariah Gilmartin had a great game with 3 hits, 3 runs and 3 runs batted in.

 

Inside the Box Score

The Hesston offense did show plate discipline with five walks and eight hits as a team.
