Game 1: Dylan Petersen started the game on the mound of the Larks going 4 ? innings while allowing zero runs, two hits and striking out three batters. The bats got hot in the sixth inning with two home runs. One from freshman Dylan Maltby and the other by freshman Sean Maple. In total the Larks did all their damage in the sixth for a total of six runs, with another pair of freshman Ick Cirino, and Cade Irwin adding in two hits each. Wind was definitely a factor in this one as gusts were blasting upwards of 30 miles per hour. The win hauled a five game losing streak for Hesston College.Ā Ā

Game 2: The second game of the double header was a great pitching affair. Both pitching staffs combined for 23 strikeouts, 8 hits and 3 earned runs on the day. Freshman Alvaro Hernandez started for the Larks and went four innings giving up only three hits and one run on the outing. Freshman Brody Burnette came on in relief throwing three innings while only giving up one run as well. This is a great sign for Hesston moving forward if some of the depth of the pitching staff can produce to this level. The lone RBI came from Freshman Shunsuke Otonashi in the fifth inning for the Larks and they went on to lose 2-1 Sunday evening.Ā Ā Ā
