Larks Secure Victory Against Wolves in KC

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Hesston College women's basketball team secured a commanding victory against Metropolitan Community College with a final score of 71-50. Hesston came out strong, leading 23-7 after the first quarter, powered by Brittany Cato's sharp shooting from beyond the arc and Akiva Brown's solid play in the paint.

Cato led the team with 15 points off the bench going 5-for-8 from the three-point line and Brown recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, along with two blocks and three steals, showcasing her versatility on both ends of the court. Mariah Hall also contributed significantly with a balanced performance, scoring 12 points, including three three-pointers, and grabbing six rebounds.

The Larks dominated early and maintained control throughout the game, holding their largest lead of 23 points in the fourth quarter. Hesston's defense forced turnovers and limited Metropolitan to just 27.1% shooting from the field. Contributions from the bench, which added 33 points, emphasized the team's depth.

The Larks will close out 2024 on Saturday (December 14) as they host Southeast Community College at 1 p.m.
