Dallas, TX. -Ā Ā The four game series between the Hesston College Larks and Dallas College-Cedar Valley was a great early season matchup to gain experience and show where both teams were at. The Larks have 26 freshmen this season, bringing in a ton of youth to a team that finished 31-17 and went to the 2nd round of the Plains District Tournament last year.

Game 1: Thompson for Cedar Valley had a great game pitching five innings and striking out seven batters while giving up one run. Freshman led the Larks in offense with Colin Pitzer having two hits, one being a double and Aiden McCullough with two runs batted in. Garrett Hanson pitched 3.1 innings and gave up one hit and no runs. He was able to keep the Suns at bay in his relief outing. Anguiano the shortstop was the big difference maker for the Suns as he had three runs batted in as the nine hole hitter.Ā
Game 2: Hesston finally got their offense rolling led by sophomore Jaden Johannesen and freshman Aiden McCullough who both had four runs batted in. Jaden had four hits and Aiden had three. Every Lark in the lineup got at least one hit, including eight with at least two. Hesston was also patient at the plate, combining for six walks as an offense.Ā Freshmen Dylan Rich and Zach Guntle held it down on the mound combining for six innings four hits, six strikeouts, and two runs. The Suns offense was held together by two runs, one each from Barrera and Autherton.Ā

Game 3: Colin Pitzer was the leader on the offensive side of the ball for Hesston going 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a triple. The Suns had Johnson and Brandon who combined for four hits, four RBIs, and two runs. On the mound Baker pitched six innings, giving up three runs, while striking out six.Ā

Game 4: The Larks were able to get six runs on the board thanks to seven walks by the Suns and timely hitting. Sophomore Jaden Johannesen had two runs batted in from a triple and Cutter Livermore showed patience at the plate with two walks. Freshman Yuya Omata had a good outing on the mound in relief pitching one inning and striking out one. The Suns were led by Carpenter and Anguiano who had two hits each and four runs combined.Ā Ā

The 1-3 weekend for Hesston makes the all-time series between the two schools stand at 5-3 in favor of the Suns.Ā Ā
