Union, MO- The Hesston Larks were swept by the East Central College Falcons over the weekend. The Falcons combined for 30 runs over the four games, while the Larks scored six.Ā
This was the first series of the 2024 season involving Region 6/16 competition for Hesston. They will see East Central for a three game set later in April at Oswald Field in Hesston, KS.Ā

Game 1: The Falcons won the first game of the series 11-1 in five innings thanks to 12 hits by a lineup led by J. Kirn, who had three hits and three runs. The Larks had one hit in this one by way of freshman Yuri Inoue who also had one run batted in. Connor Bear (0-7) was on the mound for Hesston and took the loss, pitching four innings giving up 10 earned runs and striking out three batters.Ā
Game 2: 10-3 was the final in this one with the Larks offense showing some promise as they combined for six hits and three walks along with two doubles. Freshmen Aiden McCullough and Colin Pitzer had two hits each. Carlos Roman hit his fourth double of the season. J Alfonso led the Falcons with three hits and three runs batted in.Ā

Game 3: 2-1 East Central: The Falcon's B. Underwood had a dominant performance pitching a seven inning, one earned run game while striking out five.Ā H Cook and A Hanan had the RBI's for the Falcons. The Larks did not have stats for this game.Ā Ā

Game 4: In the series finale the Falcons won 7-1 behind the great performances of J. Meyer, who was on the mound pitching six innings and only giving up, four hits and one run along with J. Alfonso who had three runs batted in on two hits. The Larks had three hits and two walks for a total of five baserunners on the day.Ā

The all-time series between these two colleges is now 8-3 in favor of the Falcons and they will have three more matchups later in the season.Ā
