Hesston, Kan-Ā  KJCCC play started for the Hesston softball team against the Could County Community College Thunderbirds. The Larks split the doubleheader winning game one 9-5 and dropping game two 3-1.Ā Ā 

Ā 

Game 1: Hesston was down 4-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning when the offense erupted for nine runs, including a bases loaded double by freshman Audra Lowe to score three.Ā 

Ā 

Sophomore Ace Emma Killingsworth went the distance for the eighth time this year, winning her fifth game to improve to (5-3) overall. Carly Lee and Lauren Payne had two hits each to lead the offense.Ā 

Ā 

The Thunderbirds made a strong effort to come back in the top of the seventh but only scored one to end the game 9-5 Hesston.Ā 

Ā 

Game 2: Freshman Sydney Jackson was on the mound in game two and pitched a complete game three run outing, taking the loss to move to (3-4) on the year. The Hesston offense did not repeat their game one success, mustering one run on six hits to lose 3-1 T-Birds.Ā 

Ā 

Sophomore Lauren Payne hit her second double of the season and the lone RBI came from a Carly Lee single.Ā 

Ā 

The all-time series between these two Jayhawk opponents is now 9-7 in favor of the Larks.Ā
