Hesston, Kan-  KJCCC play started for the Hesston softball team against the Could County Community College Thunderbirds. The Larks split the doubleheader winning game one 9-5 and dropping game two 3-1.  

Game 1: Hesston was down 4-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning when the offense erupted for nine runs, including a bases loaded double by freshman Audra Lowe to score three. 

Sophomore Ace Emma Killingsworth went the distance for the eighth time this year, winning her fifth game to improve to (5-3) overall. Carly Lee and Lauren Payne had two hits each to lead the offense. 

The Thunderbirds made a strong effort to come back in the top of the seventh but only scored one to end the game 9-5 Hesston. 

Game 2: Freshman Sydney Jackson was on the mound in game two and pitched a complete game three run outing, taking the loss to move to (3-4) on the year. The Hesston offense did not repeat their game one success, mustering one run on six hits to lose 3-1 T-Birds. 

Sophomore Lauren Payne hit her second double of the season and the lone RBI came from a Carly Lee single. 

The all-time series between these two Jayhawk opponents is now 9-7 in favor of the Larks.
