Highland, Kan - The Hesston men's baseball season comes to an end at the hands of the Highland Community College Scotties 83-68 on Monday evening in the first round of the KJCCC D2 Basketball Tournament. Sophomore Quez Wright was the Lark Leader of the game by way of 25 points, five rebounds, two assists, and one steal. The team shot a season low 12.5 percent from the 3-pt line. One bright spot was going 12-16 from the freethrow line. Wright made 11 of those. Sophomore Larry Ruffin had 12 points and the other double digit scorer was freshman Jammial Hicks Jr. who had 10.Ā

For the Scotties Bubba Leavell had a game high 31 points while team season scoring leader Chris Flippin finished the day with 12 points. Highland relied on the starters to carry the load for the team as they only got eight points from their bench.Ā

In the first half Hesston made seven total shots including 0-12 from the 3-pt line. Rob Gambill did lead the Larks with two blocks on defense and the team combined for five steals for the day.Ā

Hesston finishes the season 16-13 up from 12-15 a year ago. This is their best finish under 4th year coach Matt Hiebert.Ā
