Hesston, Kan -Ā Community Day weekend finishes with a four game sweep for the Larks over the Northeast Community College Hawks. Both starting pitchers, sophomore Emma Killingsworth and freshman Sydney Jackson picked up two wins. The offense averaged 9.5 runs and 12 hits per game. This was the best series for Hesston on the year so far and they will take this momentum and their 7-5 record into spring break, when they travel to Nebraska to take on the Southeast Community College Bobcats on March 17th.Ā Ā Ā

Game 1: The lowest scoring game of the series came out with a 4-3 win for the Hesston Larks. Emma Killingsworth was fantastic, pitching a complete game, striking out six batters and only giving up two earned runs. On offense freshman Mimi Castillo and Shailynn Heinrichs each had a double and freshman Shaylee Keslar led the team in patience at the plate with two walks.Ā

Game 2: Freshman Carly Lee led the Larks with three hits and Mimi Castillo hit her second home run of the season while driving in (4) RBI's to run rule the Hawks in five innings 10-2. Freshman pitcher Sydney Jackson improved her record to (2-3) going the distance, striking out five batters, and giving up only two earned runs. Freshman catcher Savannah Jackson had two hits of her own and a sacrifice fly.Ā Ā

Sunday was walk off day for Hesston as they won both game three and four by way of walk offs thanks to sophomore Madison Gonzales (Home run) and freshman Mimi Castillo (double).Ā Ā

Game 3: Sophomores led the way for Hesston in this one with the three combining for nine hits, five runs, and three runs batted in. Sophomore Madison Gonzales hit the game-ending walk off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to clinch the Larks sixth win of the season. Sophomore Lauren Payne had a double and triple. The third sophomore Emma Killingsworth had two hits along with pitching a complete game and striking out 10 batters.Ā Ā Ā Ā

Game 4: The second walk off of the day was by way of (8 run rule) after five innings thanks to freshman Mimi Castillo who hit a double to give Hesston their seventh win on the season and clinch a weekend sweep. Castillo also led the game with five runs batted in on two hits. Freshman Carly Lee and Sophomore Emma Killingsworth had three hits each to round out a dominant 15-7 win on Sunday.Ā
