Kansas City, MO - The Women's Basketball season came to a close for the Hesston Larks on Monday evening losing in the first round of the KJCCC D2 tournament 84-60 to the Kansas City Kansas Community College Blue Devils.
The leading scorer for Hesston was sophomore Kelsey Koza with 18 points going 4-for-8 from the 3-pt line. Freshman Norika Welch also had a good game putting in 17 points and three assists. The only other double digit scorer was Kaley Phillips with 11 points.
The Blue Devils had five in double digit scoring including Jones, Bradley, and Rogers with 16 a piece. Hesston had a five point lead in the first minute, and then KCKCC never looked back, winning by 24 points.
Hesston had a great second quarter scoring 24 points and shooting 47 percent from the field as a team to go into halftime down by 13. In the second half the Larks only scored 25 additional points.
This Hesston team finished the 2023/24 season with an 11-17 record under first year coach Vinncent DeLisio This is a one game improvement over the year prior when the team finished 10-18.
