Hesston, KS- Larks Baseball hosted their last home series of the 2024 season, facing the East Central Missouri Falcons in a three game set. Hesston dropped the first two games but were able to come out victorious on sophomore day to win game number nine on the season. Below are details of each game.Ā Ā

Game 1: East Central got on the board in the third inning with a throwing error by the Larks defense. #34 DeVon Jennings added another run with a double to make it 2-0 Falcons. Hesston fought back with an RBI single in the bottom of the third by Aiden McCullough to make it 2-1 Falcons.Ā

4th inning: Braylan Bell led off the fourth with his double of the season but Hesston did not score.Ā

5th inning: Falcons advanced a runner 1st to 3rd on the stolen base attempt, and proceeded to hit an RBI double to make it a 3-1 game. In the bottom half of the inning, Larks' Carlos Roman hit an RBI double, his fifth of the year to inch back 3-2.Ā

6th inning: Matis Crouwel hit the first home run of the game to give ECC a 4-2 advantage. The Falcons tacked on an additional run via a throwing error by the Larks defense to make it 5-2.Ā

7th inning: Carlos Roman and Aidan McCullough both hit singles to start a rally for the Larks but the Falcon's pitching settled down and finished the game for the win 5-2.Ā Ā
Game 2:Ā
2nd inning: Hesston was able to get a runner on 2nd with one out and then stranded them with back to back strikeouts.Ā

3rd inning: ECC got a runner to third base with one out and scored on an RBI single #34 DeVon Jennings, making the score 1-0 Falcons. To end the rally, Hesston's Yuya Omata threw a strikeout and the batter was ruled for interference to finish off the double play and get the Larks out of the inning.Ā Ā
5th inning: Sophomore Jaden Johannesen reached on an error by the left fielder and then the next batter Carlos Roman hit an RBI single to grow the Hesston lead 3-1.Ā

6th inning: Falcon's #3 Owen Smith crushed an RBI double to deep center field to take the score to 3-2.Ā

7th innings: Falcons had one last chance at a rally and were able to get runners at the corners with no outs. Pinch hitter #21 Joshren Magnaye came in the clutch with an RBI single to tie the game 3-3. The Falcons continued the offense output with adding an RBI fielder's choice by #6 Matis Crouwel, ECC 4-3. East Central then added one more hit giving the Falcons some breathing room at 5-3. The Larks could not plate another runner in this one and dropped game two 8-3.

Larks Yuya Omata had a great pitching performance with six innings, three runs, and four strikeouts.Ā

Game 3: Sophomore Day Sunday ended with a water cooler splash as Carsen Kane with the bases loaded took a hit by pitch to the game in the ninth inning 7-6.Ā

3rd inning: Brian Walker hit a double to left field which scored Carlos Roman and Aiden McCullough to give Hesston a 2-0 lead.Ā

4th inning: The Falcons came right back the following inning to make it 2-1 on an A. Hanan single, scoring Roberts. Hesston's Edwin Robles stole home base for a 3-1 lead.Ā
5th inning: The run scoring continued to be passed back and forth with the Falcons getting run two off a Larks' center fielder error. The Larks yet again answer with three runs in the bottom of the inning by way of a Edwin Robles two RBI single and a Carsen Kane RBI single. 6-2 Larks.Ā

8th inning: East Central made it 6-4 off the bats of J. McClintock and M. Crouwel who each singled in runs.Ā

9th inning: Looking to close out the series finale the Larks blew the save opportunity allowing the Falcons to tie the game C. Chostner hit a run scoring triple and H. Cook plated them on the next at bat for a fielder's choice RBI. 6-6 tie. In the bottom of the ninth, Hesston had the bases loaded and the Falcons pitcher hit Carsen Kane for the game winning run to come in.Ā
