HIGHLAND, Kan. – The Hesston College women's soccer team played to a 3-3 draw with Highland Community College on Saturday (September 21).
Highland struck first netting a goal in the 14th minute, but Rena Itoga tied things up in the 33rd minute with her first goal of the day and the teams headed to the locker rooms knotted up 1-1. Itoga would find the net for the second time shortly after the break putting the Larks up 2-1, but the Scotties managed to take back the lead midway through the period with goals in the 67th and 74th minute. As time wound down it looked bleak for the Larks, but Itoga intercepted a pass at midfield, drove down and scored with less than a minute left to tie it up, 3-3.
Itoga recorded her second hat trick of the season bringing her goal total to eight for the season, the third-most in the KJCCC. The Larks totaled seven shots in the match with five of them on target. Ashleigh Williams recorded 10 saves in the match.
The Larks will be back in action on Wednesday (September 25) as they host Central Community College at 4:30 p.m.
