HESSTON, Kan. – The Hesston College women's soccer team fell 4–0 to Benedictine College on Wednesday evening.
Benedictine came out fast, scoring three times in the first 17 minutes and adding one more goal in the second half. Despite the tough start, Hesston's defense tightened up and goalkeeper Ashleigh Williams was busy all night, finishing with nine saves on 13 shots on goal.
The Larks found more rhythm after halftime, putting up six shots in the second half and eight total for the match, with five on target. Rena Itoga led the attack with two shots on goal, while Kristyn Oliver and Cecilia Solis also forced saves.
Benedictine outshot Hesston 29–8, but the Larks kept fighting and created chances of their own. With the loss, Hesston moves to 2-7-1 on the season. The Larks will be back at it on Monday, October 6 when they face off against Arlington Baptist University.
