LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Hesston College women's soccer team battled for 110 minutes and beyond, ultimately falling to Dakota State University in a penalty shootout after a 1–1 draw in Friday's Continental Athletic Conference quarterfinal.

Dakota State struck first in the 23rd minute, converting on a quick attacking chance to take a 1–0 lead. Hesston continued to build pressure as the first half progressed, generating multiple looks from midfield and the wings. The Larks broke through early in the second half as Cecilia Solis finished a set-up from Rena Itoga in the 52nd minute, leveling the match at 1–1. The goal marked Solis' first of the season and came at a critical turning point as the Larks seized momentum.

Hesston outshot Dakota State 12–14 overall, placing eight shots on frame. Kristyn Oliver led the Larks in shot attempts, including a strike off the crossbar in the 60th minute that nearly put Hesston ahead. Emilie Romero, Lissette Tovar, Suleima Vazquez, and Brooklyn Paskett each contributed key offensive chances throughout the match.

Defensively, the Larks back line held strong across regulation and both overtime periods. Goalkeeper Ashleigh Williams recorded six saves, including critical stops in overtime to preserve the tie. Hesston limited Dakota State to just two shots in the second overtime period and fought off multiple corners in the late stages.

Locked 1–1 after 110 minutes, the match moved to penalties. Rena Itoga and Emilie Romero each converted their attempts, but Dakota State ultimately edged out the Larks 3-2 in the shootout to advance to the semifinals. The Larks ended their season 5-9-1 in their first season as an NAIA institution.
