MCALESTER, Okla. - The Hesston College disc golf team made a stellar showing at the Oklahoma Collegiate Showcase hosted by Bigfoot Discs at Buffalo Run DGC. The Larks took home two division titles and brought home an individual championship and a runner-up finish.
The men's A-team (Devin Miller, Zach Kaufman, Nolan Gorman and Hayden Miller) took home first place in the MC2 division shooting -7 in the team round to finish -6 for the tournament and win by two strokes. Devin took second in the singles round shooting -4 finishing one stroke behind the winner. Nolan and Zach also finished in the top 5 in the singles round. Nolan shot -1 finishing under par for the first time in his career and scored 47 points higher than his overall rating.
The women's team (Josalyn Wipf and Lily Corkill) won their division as well shooting -1 in the team round to finish +14 for the tournament. Lily was the singles champion shooting +13 for her first ever tournament win and also shot 33 points above her rating.
The men's B-team (Joey Twibell, Nathan Lewis, Noah Hiebert and Peyton Schrock) also saw improvement as they shot +11 in their team round.
The Larks will look to keep this momentum as they prepare for the Mid-American Regional Championships held in Emporia, Kan. from Nov. 15-16 for a chance to qualify for nationals.
