FAYETTE, Mo. - Hesston College fell on the road Tuesday evening, dropping a 97–84 decision to Central Methodist (Mo.) at Puckett Field House. The Larks shot an efficient 51.6 percent from the field and knocked down 14 three-pointers, but Central Methodist capitalized at the free-throw line and controlled the glass to pull away late.
Hesston jumped out to an early lead, opening the game with strong defensive pressure and ball movement. Antonio Odum scored the Larks' first basket on a layup, and Brycten Harris followed with a three-pointer to make it 5–0 less than two minutes in. Central Methodist responded with a steady run fueled by interior scoring, using points in the paint and trips to the free-throw line to build a double-digit advantage midway through the half. Despite the surge, the Larks stayed within reach behind perimeter shooting from Brennon Dodge and Odum, who each reached double figures in the opening period. Central Methodist carried a 44–36 lead into halftime.
The Larks continued to battle in the second half, scoring 48 points over the final 20 minutes. Jabari Jolley provided a spark with 11 second-half points, while Odum and Dodge continued to pressure the defense. Hesston cut into the margin multiple times, but Central Methodist answered consistently from the foul line and inside, maintaining control down the stretch. Central Methodist finished 29-of-34 at the stripe and held a 38–24 rebounding advantage to secure the win.
Odum led Hesston with 22 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Dodge added 17 points, five assists and three steals, while Jolley chipped in 14 points and four assists. Harris contributed 13 points, and the Larks totaled 18 assists on 32 made field goals. Central Methodist was led by Raphael Gay, who posted a dominant performance with 33 points and 15 rebounds, as four Eagles scored in double figures.
The Larks will take on Friends University on Thursday (Dec. 18) at 2 p.m. in their final game before winter break.
