OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Hesston College softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader against Southern Nazarene University JV on Monday (Feb. 17). The Larks will be back at home on Wednesday (Feb. 26) for a doubleheader against Friends University's JV starting at 2 p.m.
Game 1 – Hesston College 2, Southern Nazarene University JV 11
Hesston fell 11-2 in the opening game, which ended after five innings due to the run rule. The Larks plated both their runs in the third inning, highlighted by an RBI double from Julie Jones. Sydney Jackson led the team with two hits, going 2-for-3. Hesston struggled defensively, committing four errors. Jackson also started in the circle, allowing 11 runs (six earned) on 10 hits over four innings, striking out one batter.
Game 2 – Hesston College 1, Southern Nazarene University JV 19
The second game was a rough outing for the Larks, as the Storm erupted for 18 runs in the fourth inning to secure a 19-1 victory in five innings. Hesston's lone run came in the first inning, thanks in part to Trista Barrett's speed on the bases, scoring after reaching via a walk and stealing two bases. Carly Lee recorded the only hit for the Larks. Hesston's pitchers struggled as they allowed 19 runs on 16 hits while issuing five walks and hitting two batters.
