IOLA, Kan. – The Hesston College women's basketball team wrapped up their season against Allen County Community College, falling 80-28 in the opening round of the KJCCC Tournament.
From the opening tip, Allen County controlled the tempo, jumping out to a 22-10 lead in the first quarter. Hesston struggled to find its offensive rhythm, managing just seven points in the second quarter as Allen extended its advantage. The Larks' difficulties continued in the second half, scoring only six points in the third quarter and five in the fourth as Allen County's defense remained dominant.
Despite the loss, Hesston saw solid contributions from Akiva Brown, who led the team with eight points, five rebounds, three assists, and three blocks. Brittany Cato also tallied eight points, including two three-pointers, while adding four rebounds. Anna McIntire and Jenna Avery chipped in four points each. One bright spot for the Larks was their effort on the boards, grabbing 40 total rebounds, including 20 on the offensive glass.
