HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Hesston College baseball team suffered a doubleheader sweep against Hutchinson Community College on Tuesday (Mar. 4). The Larks struggled offensively in both contests falling 11-0 and 10-0. Hesston will be back in action on Saturday (Mar. 8) as they host Northern Oklahoma College – Tonkawa in a doubleheader for Community Day starting at 1 p.m.
Game 1 – Hesston College 0, Hutchinson Community College 11
In Game 1, Hesston managed four hits but couldn't push any runs across, falling 11-0 in five innings. Jett Millsap, Kaleb Cain, Samuel Vasquez and Kaleb Wise each picked up a hit in the contest. On the mound, Zach Guntle started for the Larks, striking out two batters in his inning of work, but struggled against Hutchinson's aggressive lineup. Michael Cook and Jayson Hess each made relief appearances, with Hess recording a strikeout in his two-thirds of an inning.
Game 2 – Hesston College 0, Hutchinson Community College 10
Game 2 followed a similar pattern, as the Larks were held to just two hits in a 10-0 loss. Lucas Dunn and Kelvin Malone provided the only hits for Hesston as Malone clubbed a double in the third inning. On the mound, Kaleb Wise got the start but ran into trouble in the second inning, allowing six hits and nine runs over 1.2 innings. Brayden Haire and Carsen Kane provided relief, with Haire striking out two over 1.1 innings while limiting Hutchinson to one run.
