Softball Falls to Cowley

HESSTON, Kan. – The Hesston College softball team dropped a pair of conference games to Cowley College on Friday (Apr. 18).

Game 1 – Hesston College 6, Cowley College 16

Cowley got their bats working early plating six runs in the first, five in the second and one in the third. The Larks got on the board in the fourth as Carly Lee tagged up on a line drive to the center fielder and scored after reaching on a leadoff double. Hesston further chipped away at the deficit in the following frame as Dayzi Mann drove in a run with an RBI single before Serena Hewes slammed a three-run homer to center field. The Tigers put the game away with a four-run seventh inning.

Lee finished 2-for-4 at the plate while Hewes racked up three RBI's

Anndi Sharp was in the circle for the majority of the game tossing six frames and allowing eight runs (five earned) on nine hits and two walks.

Game 2 – Hesston College 4, Cowley College 13

Cowley started off hot again in game two plating seven runs in the first inning and adding two more in the second. The Larks responded with a two-run home run from Alysha Kendrick in the third. The Tigers plated four runs in the fifth. Hesston scored one run in the bottom of the inning as Destiny Scott scored on an error by the Cowley catcher, but were unable to score again as the Tigers took game two in five innings.

Anna Mcintire finished 3-for-3 and Grace Boling went 2-for-2 at the plate.

Julia Moore took the loss for Hesston allowing nine runs on eight hits and five walks with two strikeouts in three innings of work.
