HESSTON, Kan. – The Hesston College flag football team wrapped up their regular season with a 19-6 win over the Kansas Wesleyan JV on Saturday (Apr. 19). After a rough start to the season, the Larks ended the year by winning their last two games.
Alexis Pabon finished 14/28 passing for 94 yards with three touchdowns. Destiny Ortiz hauled in two of those touchdowns on her three receptions for 40 yards and Akiva Brown caught five passes for 36 yards, including her first touchdown of the season and an extra point conversion.
The Lark defense shined in the contest with Ortiz, Lauren Payne and Madison Jarvis all recording interceptions. Payne also led the team in flag pulls with seven followed by Lili Espinoza with six.
Hesston will compete at the NJCAA Invitational tournament from May 4-8 on the hunt for their first ever national title.
