Men's Soccer Blows Past Falcons

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Hesston College men's soccer team put together a commanding performance on the road Thursday afternoon, blanking Kansas Christian College 4-0.

The Larks wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Paul Torres, Jr. opened the scoring in the 8th minute with what proved to be the game-winner. Sophomore forward Kenji Taira extended the lead with a brace, netting goals in the 37th and 65th minutes—both assisted by Yura Yamazaki—to give Hesston firm control of the match. Benjamin Duguid capped the offensive surge in the 82nd minute, finishing a setup from Isaias Noe Rodriguez to put the game out of reach.

Hesston dominated the stat sheet, outshooting the Falcons 29-2, including a 19-0 advantage in shots on goal. The Larks kept constant pressure on the Kansas Christian defense, forcing goalkeeper Will Derbyshire to make 15 saves. Meanwhile, Hesston's defense was airtight, limiting the hosts to just two attempts, none on frame. Goalkeeper Harry Morris earned the win and a shutout without needing to record a save.

On the day, Taira led the attack with four shots on goal and two tallies, while Torres and Duguid each added a goal. Yamazaki contributed two assists, highlighting a balanced effort from the Larks' midfield and forwards. Hesston also earned 12 corner kicks to KCC's zero, showcasing their dominance in possession.

With the victory, Hesston improves to 3-6 on the season, while Kansas Christian falls to 2-6.
