Men's Soccer Shuts Out Ambassadors

HESSTON, Kan. – Hesston, Kan. — The Hesston College men's soccer team delivered a commanding 5-0 victory over Ozark Christian College on Saturday evening to close out homecoming weekend.

The Larks wasted no time putting pressure on the visiting Ambassadors, with Nedas Vaivada opening the scoring in the 6th minute with a header off a corner kick from Yura Yamazaki. Just six minutes later, Alexander Radu doubled the lead with another finish set up by Yamazaki, giving Hesston a 2-0 advantage that held into halftime. The Larks fired 19 first-half shots while limiting Ozark to just two, showcasing their dominance in possession and chances.

The momentum carried into the second half when Radu struck again in the 60th minute, this time assisted by Saul Pineda, to extend the lead to 3-0. James Hori added his name to the scoresheet in the 86th minute with a goal created once more by Yamazaki, who tallied three assists on the night. Moments later, Santiago Gonzalez capped the performance with a penalty kick goal in the 89th minute to seal the 5-0 result.

Hesston dominated statistically, outshooting Ozark 36-7 with 15 shots on goal. Radu led the attack with two goals on five shots, while Vaivada and Hori added one each. Goalkeeper Luis Jimenez earned the clean sheet with two saves, aided by a disciplined defensive effort. Yamazaki's playmaking stood out as he assisted on three of the five goals.

With the win, Hesston improves to 4-6 on the season, while Ozark Christian falls to 3-5-1.

The Larks will take on Randall University at 7 p.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 30).
