LINDSBORG, Kan. - Hesston College men's soccer earned their first NAIA win in program history with a hard-fought 2-0 road victory over Bethany College on Tuesday evening (Sep. 2). Despite a scoreless first half, the Larks controlled much of the play, outshooting the Swedes 17-9 and placing 11 shots on target. Goalkeeper Ethan Connelly recorded two saves en route to a clean sheet.
The first half saw Hesston generate several quality chances, including early attempts from Alexander Radu and Benjamin Duguid, but Bethany keeper Gunvald Andresen kept the hosts level with five saves before the break.
In the 82nd minute, Jaiden Fox Trevelyan broke the deadlock with his first goal of the season, finishing after persistent attacking pressure. Just five minutes later, Yura Yamazaki doubled the lead, slotting home off a well-placed assist from Radu, with Connelly also credited for the setup.
Hesston's defense, anchored by Connelly and a disciplined back line, kept Bethany's late efforts at bay, securing the shutout. The win moves the Larks to 1-2 on the year, and will look to keep their momentum going as they take on Sterling College on Thursday (Sep. 4) at 4 p.m. in Sterling.
