TOPEKA, Kan. – The Hesston College track and field team continued its indoor season Friday at the Rustbuster Invitational, hosted by Washburn University on Jan. 16.
Freshman Keira Rankin led the Larks in the field events, placing 41st in the women's shot put with a throw of 9.30 meters. Fellow freshman Ellie Smith followed with a mark of 8.56 meters, good for 47th place.
On the track, junior Nick Win posted a personal record in the men's 60-meter dash, crossing the line in 7.66 seconds to finish 104th. Freshman Seth Crouse also recorded a PR in the men's 800 meters, running 2:09.87 for a 67th-place finish. Freshman Ethan Gonzalez competed twice on the day, setting personal records in both events. He finished 79th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.12 and placed 48th in the 3000 meters in 10:49.40.
In the men's mile, freshman Nathan Lewis led Hesston with a personal-best time of 4:45.16 to finish 64th. Sophomore Dan Guillaume followed with a PR of 5:36.80, placing 99th, while sophomore Jack Hunter crossed the line in 5:16.98 for 97th place.
The Larks also saw strong efforts in the men's 3000 meters. Freshman Jonah Krumme paced the team with a 42nd-place finish in 9:51.95. Sophomore Ethan Thompson placed 47th in 10:36.08, followed by sophomore Sebastian Pavlovich in 49th at 10:51.37. Sophomore Landon Lunsford rounded out the group with a personal-best time of 11:11.63, earning 50th place.
Hesston will continue its indoor schedule on January 24th, where the Larks will compete in the NAIA/JUCO Challenge hosted by Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas.
