Larks Take One From Randall

HESSTON, Kan. — The Hesston College baseball team dropped two of three games in a weekend series against Randall University, falling in a wild opener before rebounding in game two and narrowly losing the finale.

Game 1 – Randall 26, Hesston 19

The series opened with an offensive shootout as both teams traded big innings throughout the game. Randall jumped ahead early with two runs in the first, but Hesston answered when Kaleb Wise drove in Federico Moran with an RBI single to cut the deficit to 2–1.

The Larks took control in the fourth inning with a six-run rally. Chris Cammllarie tied the game with an RBI single before Hesston capitalized on defensive miscues. Moran capped the inning with a three-run home run that pushed the Larks ahead 8–3.

Hesston continued to produce runs through the middle innings. Wise added a two-run home run in the sixth, and the Larks plated six more runs in the eighth inning on key hits from Cammllarie, Hayden Kearney and Toby Herndon to extend the lead.

Randall responded with one of the biggest innings of the season in the ninth. The Saints erupted for 17 runs on 10 hits to overturn Hesston's lead and claim a 26–19 victory.

Moran led the Larks at the plate with four hits, including a home run and five RBIs. Wise added three hits and three RBIs, while Cammllarie collected four hits and drove in three runs in the high-scoring contest.

Game 2 – Hesston 3, Randall 1

The Larks bounced back in the second game behind a strong pitching performance and timely hitting.

After several scoreless innings, Hesston broke through in the fifth. Federico Moran singled and Samuel Vasquez followed with another base hit to set up the rally. Cooper Huff then drove in the first run with an RBI single, and Manuel Aranguren delivered a two-run double to left field to give the Larks a 3–0 advantage.

Randall managed a run in the sixth on a fielder's choice, but the Larks' pitching held firm the rest of the way.

Beckett DePuy delivered a strong outing on the mound, allowing just one hit over six innings. Aaron Shipp closed out the seventh inning to secure the save and seal the 3–1 victory.

Game 3 – Randall 5, Hesston 4
