HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hesston College cross country team opened the 2026 season Thursday evening at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic at the Fun Valley Sports Complex.

On the women's side, sophomore Arissa Cathey led Hesston with a time of 23:02.81, placing 31st overall in the three-mile race. Kansas Wesleyan won the women's team competition with 37 points, followed by Hutchinson Community College with 45 and Dodge City Community College with 73.

Sophomore Jonah Krumme paced the Hesston men, finishing the four-mile race in 22:58.84 to place 16th overall. Nathan Lewis followed in 33rd at 24:28.46, with Jose Chaman finishing 44th in 25:17.16 and Sebastian Pavlovich 52nd in 26:48.47. Hutchinson CC won the men's race with 17 points, while Kansas Wesleyan finished second with 60 and Dodge City third with 79.

The Larks will be back in action next Saturday (Sept. 5) at the JK Gold Classic hosted by Wichita State.
