McPHERSON, Kan. — The Hesston College men's soccer team returned to the win column Wednesday night with a 3-0 victory over Central Christian College. The win moved the Larks to 6-1-1 on the season. 

The two sides traded opportunities throughout much of the first half before Hesston broke through late. In the 40th minute, Tiago Oliveira set up Saul Pineda for the opening goal, his second of the season, giving the Larks a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime. 

Central Christian came out aggressively in the second half, generating several chances in the opening minutes, but Hesston doubled its lead in the 54th minute. Santiago Llanos found Alexander Radu, who converted for his eighth goal of the season to make it 2-0. 

The same combination struck again less than 10 minutes later. Llanos recorded his second assist of the match as Radu scored in the 63rd minute, extending the Hesston advantage to 3-0 and giving Radu his ninth goal of the season. 

Central Christian continued to pressure the Larks, but goalkeeper Luis Jimenez kept the Tigers off the board. Jimenez made saves in the 61st and 66th minutes before adding another stop in the 81st to preserve the shutout. 

Radu led the Hesston attack with two goals on six shots, while Pineda added a goal on two attempts. Llanos finished with two assists and Oliveira added one. The Larks put five of their 13 shots on goal. 

Central Christian held an 18-13 advantage in total shots and a 6-1 edge in corner kicks, but Hesston limited the Tigers to just three shots on goal. Jimenez stopped all three in his 90 minutes in net to earn the shutout. 

The Larks will return to action Tuesday, Sept. 22 when they travel to Ecclesia College for a 3 p.m. match.
