Alex Butterfield was named the head softball coach at Hesston College in November of 2024. 

A native of Wichita, Kan., Butterfield earned his Bachelor of Art in English at Wichita State (Kan.) University.

Alex began his coaching career as an assistant baseball coach at Wichita Southeast High School from 2012 to 2013. During this time, he also served as an assistant coach for the Park City Rangers in the Kansas Collegiate League. Butterfield took his first head coaching position in 2014 at Haven High School where he set the school record for wins in both 2017 and 2018. In 2017, he took over as co-owner, general manager and head coach of the Haven-Andale Warhawks of the Jayhawk Collegiate League until 2021. As head baseball coach at Andale High School, he led the Indians to a league championship in 2019 where he was also named AVCTL Division 4 Coach of the Year. In 2022, Butterfield joined the baseball coaching staff at Hesston College and became a full-time assistant in 2024. 

Alex resides in Colwich, Kan., with his wife, Christi, and their three daughters, Ella, Addi and Callie.
