Sam Maldonado joined the Hesston College men’s basketball coaching staff in 2024.

A native of Hutchinson, Kan., Maldonado began his coaching career as a student assistant at Central Christian (Kan.) College in 2016. After graduating with his bachelor’s in 2018, he was hired as a full-time member of the coaching staff where he acted as the head of the developmental team while assisting the varsity. In his time at Central Christian, he helped coach the Tigers to a third-place finish at the NCCAA DI national tournament in 2017-18 as well as appearances in the SAC conference tournament in 2021-22 and 2023-24. 

Sam and his wife, Jenessa, live in Hesston with their daughter, Elsie.
