Tavis Leake was named to the Hesston College women’s basketball coaching staff in 2024. 

Leake completed his undergraduate degree in business marketing from Sterling (Kan.) College where he was a member of their men’s basketball team. In his time at Sterling, he helped lead the Warriors on a historic run in 2011 where they won the KCAC regular season and tournament championships, ultimately earning themselves a spot in the NAIA national tournament.

Leake began his coaching career at Newton High School in 2016 coaching the boys’ junior varsity team. From 2017 to 2019, he was the assistant for the boys’ team at Wichita Northwest High School before returning to Newton in 2020 as the head coach for the girls’ team. After three years at the helm of the Lady Railers squad, Leake took a position as a graduate assistant coach at Friends (Kan.) University while pursuing his MBA. 

Tavis lives in Newton with his wife, Adriana, and their two sons, Ace and Valentino.
