Eric Sarno was named the new head women’s soccer coach at Hesston College on April 5, 2023. Eric has a plethora of coaching experience spanning from youth clubs to a professional football club in South Africa.
Born and raised in Fort Collins, Colo., Sarno went on to attend and play at Fort Lewis College, a Division II college in Durango, Colo. earning a bachelor’s degree in sport administration with a minor in coaching.
After obtaining his degree, Eric accepted a position as a youth club coach for the Durango Youth Soccer Association in 2006. In 2012, Eric took over as the head boys and girls coach at Grand Valley HS in Parachute, Colo. He led the girls team to a combined 22-9-1 record in a two year span posting their first winning record in school history in 2012 (9-6) and taking them to their first ever 3A state playoff appearance in 2013 (13-3-1).
Sarno held the head boys coach position at 5A Mountain Range HS from 2014-2016 before accepting a post at Hesston College as the assistant men’s coach and sports information director. After spending a year at Hesston, Sarno was offered an assistant coaching position with Sundawana FC in the Lesotho (Africa) premier league and was eventually promoted to head coach of the club. In 2018, Sarno took over as the Director of Coaching for the Western Canada Rush Soccer Club in Nanaimo, BC. In 2022, Eric returned to the U.S. as a coach for the Sunrise Soccer Club in Sunrise, Fla.
Sarno holds dual American/Canadian citizenship as well as a Canada Soccer Association C license.
Sarno resides in Wichita, Kan.
